Holding a hotel room for a late check-in near Schiphol, so the massage has a place to happen

A session needs a room, and a room booked for a late arrival is only yours if the hotel knows you are coming. A short message to the desk before departure protects the whole night.

Hotels let go of rooms that look like no-shows. A reservation that nobody marked for a late arrival can be handed on in the evening, particularly on a busy night, and a guest who walks in at one in the morning may find the room has gone to someone who arrived at nine. Most booking platforms carry a field for the expected arrival time; fill it in, and if the flight is due after midnight, send the hotel a direct note as well.

What to tell the hotel

Give the flight and the time you expect to reach the desk, ask for the room to be held for a late arrival, and keep the reply. If the hotel locks its main door at night or moves check-in to a side entrance, the answer will say so, and you can pass that on to the thread. Nobody wants a therapist waiting at a locked revolving door while the night porter is on his rounds.

When to give the room number

The room number only exists once the key is in your hand, and the session can be arranged without it until then. Give the hotel and the landing in the first message, confirm the start when you know when you will be there, and send the number from the lift. The glossary entry on the night desk explains how a visitor reaches the room at that hour.

If the room has gone

Sometimes the room has been let after all. The hotel may find you another or send you to a sister property down the road. Tell the thread at once: if she has not yet set out, the address simply changes, and for an airport room the reply states her journey to the new one before anything else moves. The journey time guide covers a change of address in more detail.

A small city hotel at night

Central hotels with a small staff sometimes switch to a door code or a key box after a certain hour. That works for a session, provided you are inside before she arrives. In the city she comes forty to sixty minutes after the start is confirmed, so confirm from the room once the code has worked, not from the pavement while you are still trying it.

Questions

On this guide

Does the hotel need to know a visitor is coming?

Read the hotel's own rules on visitors before you travel. Where it asks for visitors to sign in at the desk, mention it in the thread so the arrival is planned around that.

My booking platform says check-in closes at midnight. What now?

Write to the hotel directly before departure and ask whether the room can be held and how the key is collected after that hour. Keep the answer, and confirm the session only once you know you can get in.

Can I book the session before the hotel has confirmed it is holding the room?

You can open the thread, but hold off confirming. Until you know the room is yours, any start time is a guess.
