Landing late at Schiphol and staying by Leidseplein, with a massage away from the noise
Leidseplein is the evening square of Amsterdam: theatres, terraces, clubs and a steady stream of trams until late. A hotel there puts a traveller in the middle of the city's night, which is fine until the moment you want a quiet room.
Hotels on and around Leidseplein are popular with visitors precisely because the square never seems to sleep. Arriving at midnight, you step out of the taxi into people leaving the theatre or heading for the clubs, and the noise carries on for a while yet, especially at weekends. None of that rules out a session; it simply means choosing the room well and timing the knock with care.
The road in
From the airport the drive approaches from the southwest and ends at the edge of the square, since its middle belongs to trams and people on foot. Drivers usually stop on a side street, and the last stretch is a walk. Earlier in the evening an airport bus runs to Museumplein and Leidseplein; later, the taxi rank is the simpler route.
Choosing the room
If you are booking the hotel yourself, ask for a room at the back or on a high floor. Front rooms over the square catch voices well past two on a Friday or a Saturday. A quiet room matters more to the session than any other detail, since a sensual hour or a slow tantra massage depends on a calm space around it.
A busy door at midnight
Hotels on the square often keep a doorman or a night desk that sees a constant flow of guests and visitors. Give the thread the hotel name and the room number once you have it, so she can walk past the crowd and straight up. If the entrance lies round a corner from the square, say so, because at midnight the main door and the night door are not always the same.
When to confirm
Leidseplein is inside the central arrival window, forty to sixty minutes from confirmation. Because the last part of the ride can slow down in the crowds, confirm once you are out of the taxi rather than as it leaves the airport. A booking made more than a day ahead, or a first booking, sends half the fee in advance, as the cancellation page sets out.
After she has left
The square quietens slowly, and by the time the session ends the last trams have long gone and the clubs are starting to empty. If you plan to sleep straight afterwards, ask the night desk for earplugs on the way in; many hotels on the square keep a few behind the counter. A late breakfast is easy to find nearby the next morning, so there is no reason to set an early alarm on the first night.
