Arriving late at a full Schiphol hotel and being sent to another, with the massage moved too
Hotels call it walking a guest: when a property is overbooked, the late arrival is sent to a sister hotel or a partner nearby. It happens most to those who arrive last, which is exactly the traveller this site is written for.
Overbooking is a calculated risk for hotels, which count on a few guests not turning up. On most nights the sums work; on a busy one, someone has to be moved, and the person standing at the desk at half past midnight is the obvious candidate. The hotel usually covers the alternative room and the taxi to it. What it does not do is tell anyone else you were expecting that your address has changed.
Ask before you accept
Before you get into the taxi, ask where the new hotel is, whether it lies near the airport or in the city, and how a visitor reaches the rooms after midnight. Those three answers decide everything about the session that follows. If the new property is much further away, you may prefer to take the room and move the session to tomorrow.
Send the new address
Send the new hotel's full name and address straight away, ideally before she sets out. If she has not left, the change costs nothing; for an airport room the reply states her journey to the new address, and in the city the forty to sixty minute window simply starts again from a fresh confirmation. If she is already on the road, the thread will say how much the detour adds.
When the new room is in another area
Being walked from an airport hotel into central Amsterdam, or the other way round, changes which clock applies. An airport room has its journey agreed in the reply; a city room runs on the standing window. The journey time guide explains the difference. A deposit already sent belongs to the same booking and travels with it to the new address.
Keeping the evening simple
A walked guest has had a longer night than planned. If the alternative room is small or the hour very late, an hour is plenty, and erotic oil massage needs nothing the new room cannot offer. Keep the hotel's written confirmation of the move on your phone in case a question comes up at the night desk.
Lowering the odds next time
Travellers who often land late can make a move less likely. A reservation made directly with the hotel, a loyalty account, or a message on the day saying the flight is on time all mark you as a guest who will turn up. None of it is certain, but it tilts the night desk's choice towards someone else.
